Ahoy Mateys!

You don't have to set sail to wear one of the hottest looks for spring, but it sure would be fun wouldn't it?! I live in a city that has 3 naval bases, so it seemed very fitting to style this look with the beautiful scenery here in town.

The nautical trend has been around for years and will probably never leave.  It was popular in the 20's decade and even before that.  In the past few years, people have become even more obsessed with anchors and blues because: collections related to cruise and resort life are seeing huge growth.

Nautical styling reminds us of the days of old, and European sophistication.

The elements associated with this look will always work with denim.  Sometimes  nautical inspired dress can appear "costumey."  Here are ways to keep it looking classy:

1) Keep it simple:  A striped or printed top with distressed denim as I have chosen here are great for a casual simple look .A jean skirt, striped dress, or high waisted shorts would be fabulous as well.

2) Add a pop of color:  I went with a bright red pair of flats for the first look . A bright hue such as mustard or orange would compliment the blue well too.

3)Accesorize:  Top off your sailor girl look with accessories such as a watch, necklace, scarf, or handbag ,

The Spring "16" Trend Campaign is in full swing at Macy's, which is where I found most of the pieces for this outfit. I love to shop their sales, never come home empty handed!  The top caught me eye right away because of the unique red detailing on the back.

Do you have a nautical outfit hiding away in your closet? I'd love to hear how you would style it, in the comments below. Also if you like what you read , I would love it if you subscribed to my blog on the right sidebar.  I also update my Instagram frequently with style and travel tips.

  13. When it comes to resort wear, I'm not much of a print person. Rather, I prefer my nautical pieces either striped or colour-blocked or solids, you know, that way they can go with just about everything else, all year long. That isn't to say I don't appreciate your outfit, I do!! Very much, Valerie, you look so fresh and confident and happy xoxo

I went shopping earlier today and Loft, The Limited and Old Navy are filled with beautiful nautical pieces, this Spring. I wanted one of each lol.
