3 Unique Coffee Shops in the Seattle Area

3 Unique Coffee Shops in the Seattle Area

Sippin in Seattle's latte land- the coffee capital of the world  awaits you! The holidays are here again, and it's the perfect time to try out a new coffee shop. Cozying up in one of these spots with my favorite brewed beverage, somehow makes the rainy season more bearable.

The list for interesting and unique coffee shops in the "Emerald City" are endless. It would take months, or maybe even years to visit them all. It sounds like a great challenge for all of us who love coffee!  I would love to travel the globe in search of the  best coffee houses.

One the first things I do upon arrival in a new city, is to scope out the coffee shop scene.  I have several on my radar that I frequent in certain cities. Fortunately I didn't have to travel far from home to grab a cup a jo at these

3 Unique Coffee Shops in the Seattle Area:

1) Espresso Buono:

I was on my way from the Edmonds ferry dock to Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood( A north Seattle suburb) and this cute  coffee shop nestled among the trees, caught my eye! I took note of it's location and decided I would stop on my way back.

I was so excited to get my shopping over so I could go check it out! Ha yes I love coffee as much as I do shopping!  Espresso Buono did not disappoint. It has to be the cutest place ever to grab coffee.  Ambience, art, and coffee all under one roof.

The interior is so darling and inviting. The espresso stand is in the front and a small hallway leads to
the back room. You can cozy up by the fireplace with your favorite brew, read a book, and listen to live music.

The garden area out back is the icing on the cake!  A beautiful serene setting to relax, unwind, and enjoy your beverage.  Spending some of your summer days here, would be amazing!

I highly recommend a visit here. The customer service was flawless, and the coffee was too!  Penny , the owner, is a delight and  has a very inspiring story. She is a retired educator, and musician. She loves to support the arts in the community by encouraging others to chase their dreams. Read more of her story here.

2) The Pouslbohemian:

The Poulsbohemian coffee house is located on the Kitsap peninsula, a short ferry ride away from Seattle.  Poulsbo is a 15 minute drive from the Kingston ferry, or you can drive around through Tacoma.

This is one is my favorite northwest coffee shop . I call it an "Office with a view." I have always known it was there, but just visited this past summer for the first time. I could sit at this shop and let the hours pass by.  I love to visit here and work on my laptop.

In between the barber shop and the Poulsbohemian is the most beautiful view and seating area.  You might have to get in line for a seat facing Liberty Bay, just breathtaking!

For the overcast and cooler days, there is plenty of seating inside with huge windows to take in the view.  The shop is located on the main drag of this northwest town with a European vibe. Poulsbo is an amazing small town to visit, a little bit of Norway in Washington State!

3) The Meowtropolitan

Coffee, cats, and the charm of Wallingford are all right here at the Meowtropolitan. This one is a cat lover's paradise. The first and only cat café in the emerald city. I am a life long cat lover, so when I heard this was opening  I had to get there ASAP!

I know some of you are thinking: Yuck! - I don't want to be served  any fur with my coffee! No worries, the cafe is separate from the cattery.  You can lounge in  the coffee shop and enjoy the cats through the windows, or order your drink and take it inside the cat room.

I had a great time with the beautiful kitties. They were so much fun to play with and watch!
I love the mission of this business:  They are partnering with Regional Animal Services of King County (RASCK).  All the cats are brought  from the shelter and are available to adopt.

If you would like to reserve a time in the cat lounge , follow these 3 steps for a hassle free experience.
  1. Make a reservation online
  2. Come to the cafe and order your drink
  3. Check in with the cashier and proceed to the cat lounge
If you do not reserve a spot ahead of time, you can possibly get in on a cancellation.
The cost to enter the cattery area is ten dollars.  The fee does include a drink of your choice and it helps fund the adoption  of the animals.  The time in the cattery is limited to an hour, so the cats don't get too overwhelmed.

Have you visited any exceptional coffee shops lately? I would love to hear where they are!  Thanks for stopping by.
