Happy Wednesday Friends,
Last weekend we were in Tacoma for the biggest food extravaganza in the south sound. Every year near the end of June, the Taste of Tacoma takes place. The setting to eat away the day is at Point Defiance Park and Zoo, located North of the city. Get your taste buds ready for the best bites of Tacoma!
The event is hosted by the Emerald Queen Casino in partnership with Boeing Employees Credit Union. Parking at Point Definance park is very limited, You can catch a shuttle to the event at Tacoma Community College. Entrance to the festival and the shuttle ride are free to the public.
Enjoy the best of a summer picnic, soak up the sun and listen to music while you feast. The festival offers a 3 day weekend of food centered events. There is live entertainment across multiple stages, and booths from several local food brands.
There are also live cooking demonstrations and cook offs located at the Taste Cooks Stage inside the large tents.
This festival is the best place to experience every kind of delectable dish from around the Sound. This barbecue, OH MY I could've chowed down on that all day! There were booths and food trucks galore, it was really hard to choose.
I walked back and forth between the booths several times, trying to decide what to eat. I finally chose a vegetarian gyro. I've only tasted the meat version, the veggie gyro was even yummier! Creamy tzatziki sauce mixed with fresh vegetables, cradeled inside a crispy pita bread hit the spot!
The rest of the family's choices were yummy as well. My daughter ordered a Filipino plate. I grabbled a few bites of hers too, the pancit was fabulous!
A great perk of festivals, is the chance to sample foods from different brands promoting the newest foodie products on the market. I've always been a fan of Ken's dressing. The new line of "Simply Vinairgrette" did not disappoint. The garlic and basil flavor was my favorite, and they gave us a few bottles to take home.
The Rose Garden is a must see. Rows and rows of flowers bursting with vibrant colors are yours to enjoy and walk through. One of the best things of summer is seeing beautiful foliage and new flowers blooming everywhere. This may be a place you want to sit and eat your bites, under the pagoda in the garden.

I chose a pair of white cropped pants, and an off the shoulder tee by Vince Camuto. Shorts are an option as well, but be prepared- the morning and evenings can be on the cool side.
Festival season is on all across the U.S. and July 4th is just around the corner. Maybe you will be inspired to seek out all the fun in your local area, or festivals on the road to your destinations! Happy Travels!
Do you love festivals, or are they just MEH?
