Dallas Fashion Market: Hot Spring Trends

Howdy,  Happy Wednesday!

It seems like forever since I've posted on my blog. When you go on a trip, there is always so much to catch up on when you get home!  I had a great time in Texas, and have lots to share with you about my trip to the Dallas Fashion Market.  What a fashion feast it was!

This was my second fashion tradeshow to attend,  and it was an amazing experience just like the first! Last year I attended "Magic" in Las Vegas, which is the largest fashion trade show in the world. The one in Dallas was just as exciting , but on a much smaller scale.

The show in Dallas was a little easier on the feet, as all the booths were located in one building.  It is 15 floors high and packed with wholesalers galore. There are a few  cash and carry shops as well.  Some of the booths at the market are open year around. The apparel and accessories market takes place several times a year, with mini markets in between.  Alright enough about the building, let's talk trends!

Hottest trends for spring:

1) Ophelia:  This trend represents living life out loud and to the fullest.  It embodies a Shakespearian character that lives in the rainforest. This gal is intertwined with nature for a tropical feeling, it's tropical gone wild!  You can see this aesthetic present with bright green and blue hues, accented with orange and olive.  An Ophelia girl is creative, expressive, and drawn to the arts.

"Spot snap share" was an Instagram contest sponsored by fashion snoops.  You had to spot a trend and share on Instagram with the card showing.  All my marathon posting during the show paid off! I received an email yesterday that I won the contest, and a gift card is on the way. Woohoo I feel a shopping trip comin on!

2) Boho Chic:

The popular retro trend has wooed us over the past few seasons, and it'll be no different for spring.  Bohemian captures a unique feeling of artisanal techniques.  This trend's expression is free spirited, saturated with indigo tones, tapestries, fringe, and a worldly flavor.  I'm feeling right at home with the boho culture, as I grew up during the decade this trend originated from.

3) Pastels,Stripes, and Denim: Pretty pastels, sailor stripes, and everything denim will be hot for spring this year.  You can expect to see 50 shades of pink, powdery pastels, and fruity melon colors.  Shorts, rompers, and dresses in jean, will be all the rage!

I felt like a kid in candy store, so much to see and take in!  Unfortunately you can't purchase individual outfit pieces at these shows, it is mostly wholesale vendors. The buyers from all the major department stores and small boutiques are there to stock their stores for the upcoming season.

I attended the show with  my friend who owns a boutique in Wisconsin.  I go to help her with her buying and make connections with brands for my blog.  If you are in the Milwaukee area visit Free Bird Style for the latest trending styles and a unique shopping experience!

If you are a fashionista and have never been to a trade show, I highly recommend it!  I hope this post has you looking forward to spring and all the fun pieces you can add to your wardrobe.  What spring trend has caught your eye?

Thanks for stopping by! Stay tuned, more to come from the city of Dallas- "The Big D"

  9. I've never heard of the Dallas Fashion Market but that would make sense because I'm not in the industry. I sit at a desk all day wearing non-fashionable clothes with baby spit up stains all over them- HAHA. Love the green dress on the left from the Ophelia line. Gorgeous! Glad you had a great time. xo

  16. Congrats on winning the gift card!! Woot Woot! Boho Chic has been in for a while, which I love! I can see how Pantone (sp?) colors of the year are influencing things with the pinks, pastels, and muted blues. I to say Ophelia is not my favorite, unless I was traveling somewhere tropical I guess. I'm glad you had a fun trip! Good luck getting caught up! xoxo

  17. Thanks Angie! I am excited for that gift card to get here! Yes Olphelia is definitely for a tropical place!
