How to do a Tropical Staycation in the Backyard

As we know, traveling and life are not much fun these days. With all the restrictions and closures, how is one supposed to put on a happy face?! It's tough, so we make lemons out of lemonade and make the best of it.

We had plans to travel to Hawaii this summer.  If you've been around here awhile; ya know I looove warm tropical getaways! Since we can't jet off right now; I decided to bring the tropics to my backyard.

It totally picked up my spirtis and inspired me to make plans for the islands later.  I hope this post will inspire you as well. Whatever you can do to make yourself and others happy, will go a long way.

Wear A Tropical Themed Outfit

I found my tropical shorts and peach slides in spring of 2019, while visting Vancouver.  I stopped in at Ardene, my favorite Canadian retailer for chic style on a budget.  If you'd rather wear your bikini in the backyard, go for it. I will pass until the gym opens again, ha! Also grab a pair of stylish sunnies to complete your look.

Enjoy a Refreshing Tropical Drink

When at home, I prefer "mocktails. You can copy popular alcoholic concoctions wihtout the spike. I'm not a big fan of alcohol, but do enjoy wine now and then with friends.  One of my favorite tropical drinks is BLUE HAWAII.

5 oz of blue cream soda

2 oz of pineapple juice

1 oz lime juice

3/4 c. crushed ice

Blend all ingredients in the blender on high, until the mixuture becomes frothy. Garnish your drink with maraschino cherries and pineapple wedges.

The Dollar tree also has fun photo booth backgrounds available to enhance the vibes of your backyard getaway. This palm tree scene had me dreaming of my next vacation to the islands.

Relax and Have Some Fun

I don't know about you, but these very strange times are ramping up the anxiety.  All the more reason, to engage in activities that bring peace and joy.  This backyard staycation is the perfect solution for the "Corona" blues.  Set up a lounge chair, grab a drink and relax the day away.
