Hello friends, I hope your New Year is off to a great start. The last year has been a crazy ride for all and I'm glad we can put it behind us. I've been on a hiatus from blogging for a month. A rest during the holidays was wonderful. I hope you were able to relax some during the busy season.

We are half way through January and soon it will be Valentines Day! My birthday is coming up too, 4 days before Valentines. When I was growing up, I thought my mother chose my given name because of being born so close to this day. I was wrong, ha! She named me after a beloved teacher she had as a child, named Valerie.

Since you may be having a dilemma about what to wear for Valentines, I thought I would share an outfit guide featuring this gorgeous sweater gifted to me by Chico's Boutiqes. It's always a pleasure to work with this brand who supports and inspires women of all ages!

A Chic Sweater

Let's talk about this classy chic sweater! Bold, bright and beautiful describe this amazing piece to add to your wardrobe. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this on. It fits like a glove and is so comfy.  I normally do not wear sweaters.  Most are too itchy, hot and uncomfortable. Finally, a sweater I can keep in my closet for years to come.

Make a chic statment in luxurious style with this cashmere blend " Peace Love Chic" sweater. The embroidered graphic is what makes the piece so unique. ( p.s. no itch from the graphic either). The soft cahsmere blend fabric is what makes this sweater so wearable. Who doesn't love cashmere?!?

Faux Leather Leggings

I love leggings from this fabric. They have a shiny sheen if you want to up the glam factor of your outfit. Faux leather is very comfortable to wear as well.  These leggings pair so well with many styles of tops and sweaters. You could also wear a furry  black coat over these leggings to add an extra layer of chic.

Stylish Footwear

Shoes and/or accessories finish the outfit and bring all the details together. Use footwear to dress your look up or down. For this photoshoot I switched out my shoes a few times to create different looks. Ankle boots are my go to for fall and winter fashion.  They are available in a huge variety of fabrics and prints.  Booties really do add a lot of pizzaz to your style.

Last but not least, I can't fail to mention where these photos were taken. This is the lovely Norwegian town closeby, Poulsbo WA. It is known as " Lil Norway" and is located 90 minutes from Seattle on the Kitsap Peninsula. You can reach it by way of the ferry or head west from Tacoma on Hwy 16.

Poulsbo was recently named one of the TOP 10 towns in America with a European Vibe, by the Smithsonian Magazine.  If you make it to Seattle, do check out this lovely town!
Have an amazing year, until next time...

  1. Loved the sweater, Valerie. Perfect for Valentines I think. What a gorgeous town it is too, and the girl in the picture makes it picture-perfect!

  2. Valerie, this sweater is so fabulous! I do love a good cashmere one and then add a cute graphic and I'm sold! Chico's has some really wonderful pieces and such beautiful quality, too. I really love this outfit from head to toe and these photos are so much fun. That looks like an amazing little town to visit! You made me smile with the story of your name as well!
