When it comes to charming beach towns in Portugal, Cascais is the Atlantic coast charmer calling you to visit. Located 30 minutes west of Lisbon, this laid-back seaside escape offers the perfect mix of old-world beauty, Atlantic views and slower pace that beckons you to stay awhile.

If you’re wondering where to stay in Cascais, I found a place that felt like the perfect home base to exploe the wonders of Cascais: the stylish and welcoming Vila Galé Cascais. It’s everything you want in a hotel—relaxed vibes, postcard-perfect views, and  prime location  just steps from the best of this breezy Portuguese town.

Prime Location on the Atlantic

Vila Galé Cascais sits in a dream-worthy spot right along the coastline, where the sound of waves becomes your daily soundtrack. From the hotel, you can walk to Boca do Inferno: HELL (a dramatic cliffside blowhole), stroll to the lively Cascais Marina, or wander into the historic town center filled with boutiques, cafes  and seaside promenades.

It’s one of those places where you can start your day with a peaceful beach walk and end it sipping vinho verde while watching the sunset—all without needing a car.

The Rooms: Comfortable & Stylish

My room at Vila Galé was bright, spacious and inviting—everything a traveler needs to recharge after a day of sightseeing. I had a balcony with a view of the Atlantic: what an amazing paradise to awaken to every morning!

The decor blends modern simplicity, echoing the natural beauty of the coast. There’s strong Wi-Fi (great for digital nomads), a workspace, a mini-bar and plenty of space to  unwind. The bed was super comfy, and loved how huge it was.

Dining: Fresh Flavors Breakfast Buffet

Breakfast at Vila Galé was a delicious way to start the day. The hotel offers a delicious buffet with everything from fresh fruit and pastries to eggs, cheeses, and local specialties. The same restaurant offers dinner for purchase, and the bar beside the restaurant- is a great place to socialize!

Amenities That Make a Difference

This four star hotel checks all the boxes when it comes to thoughtful amenities. There’s a swimming pool with loungers, beautiful green spaces, and easy access to seaside walking

The pool along with the view, was my favorite part of staying at Vila Gale. If you prefer the beach for swimming, there are many in Cascais. Across the road, is an inlet offering a " swimming hole" experience!

If you’re traveling with kids, there’s a small playground and spacious common areas that give everyone room to relax. The hotel also has event space, which makes it a great pick for retreats or small group gatherings. The hotel was very clean and well-kept .The staff were friendly, and made check-in a breeze.

Who It’s Perfect For

Whether you’re planning a midlife girlfriend getaway, a romantic escape, or a solo recharge, Vila Galé is a great fit. It offers a relaxed kind of luxury—not fussy or overdone, just thoughtful comfort in a scenic setting.

It’s also ideal if you want  to explore Cascais without a rental car. Everything—from the marina to the town center and cultural landmarks—is walkable or a short ride away. I didn't have a car and found it very easy to get around.

Tourist Attraction Nearby: Boca do Inferno

Boca do Inferno ( Hell's Mouth) is a viewpoint located in the seaside. The seawater has access the deep bottom of the chasm; and vigorously strikes its rocky walls, making it a popular tourist attraction. It is a few minutes walk from the hotel. Ask the staff for directions.

Final Thoughts: Vila Galé- Perfect Base for Exploring Cascais

During my media tour with Visit Cascais, Vila Galé provided the perfect blend of comfort, location and charm. I loved waking up to Atlantic views, wandering to the nearby market or museum quarter, and returning each evening to a peaceful seaside retreat.

If you’re looking for the best hotel in Cascais that delivers value, views, and a perfect location, Vila Galé is an easy yes. It truly captures the essence of Cascais—laid-back, elegant  and unforgettable.

I hope you will make a trip to Cascais and stay at Vila Gale! I just returned and it was very hard to leave such a dreamy place! Thanks to Visit Cascais for hosting my media tour and stay!
